Why France?

French Atlantic waters — particularly from Brittany and Normandy — are among the most regulated and closely monitored fishing zones in Europe. Cold, nutrient-rich currents from the Bay of Biscay produce lobsters with dense, flavorful meat and a naturally sweet, briny taste. Slow growth in cold water means firmer texture and higher fat content than warm-water alternatives. Global Seafoods sources directly from French fishing cooperatives to ensure traceability from harvest to delivery.

How to Cook Live King Lobster

  • Steamed — 8–10 minutes per pound over boiling water; best for preserving sweetness and tenderness. A 4 lb lobster: ~35 min. A 6 lb lobster: ~55 min.
  • Boiled whole — submerge in heavily salted boiling water at the same rate: 8–10 minutes per pound
  • Grilled or broiled — split the tail, brush with garlic herb butter, grill 8–10 minutes until opaque
  • Split tail for grilling or roasting
  • Chopped for lobster rolls or pasta
  • Surf & Turf paired with premium steak

Tip: The lobster is done when the shell is bright red and the meat at the thickest part of the tail is white and opaque, not translucent.

Receiving & Storage

  • Inspect on arrival. If the lobster is not moving, it may still be alive — cold slows activity significantly
  • Keep refrigerated at 34–40°F in the original breathable packaging
  • Do not place in fresh water or seal in airtight containers
  • Cook within 24 hours of arrival for best quality
  • If you have concerns about condition on arrival, photograph immediately and contact us within 2 hours

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Live King Lobsters?
Live King Lobsters are premium cold-water lobsters known for their large size, firm texture, and sweet, rich meat. They are a luxury seafood item ideal for special occasions and fine dining.
Where are King Lobsters sourced?
Our King Lobsters are harvested from the cold Atlantic waters off France — primarily the Brittany and Normandy fishing zones — where strict regulations and cold, nutrient-rich currents produce dense, sweet, flavorful meat.
How are live lobsters shipped?
They are shipped in insulated packaging with cold packs to maintain safe temperature and airflow during transit. All orders ship overnight.
Is live arrival guaranteed?
We ship all lobsters live and pack them with every precaution. Live arrival cannot be guaranteed due to conditions outside our control during transit. All lobsters are guaranteed to arrive fresh and of premium quality. Contact us within 2 hours of delivery with a photo if you have concerns.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final. Due to the perishable nature of this product, we are unable to accept returns or issue refunds. If your order arrives in poor condition, contact us within 2 hours of delivery with a photo for resolution.
How should I store live lobsters upon arrival?
Keep them refrigerated at 34–40°F in their original breathable packaging. Do not place in fresh water or seal in airtight containers. Cook within 24 hours for best quality.
How do I know when lobster is fully cooked?
The shell will be bright red and the tail meat will be white and opaque all the way through — not translucent or glassy at the center. Allow 8–10 minutes per pound when steaming or boiling.
How much meat does a King Lobster yield?
On average, a lobster yields approximately 20–25% of its total weight in meat, concentrated in the tail, claws, and knuckles. A 4–6 lb lobster provides significantly more usable meat than standard 1–1.5 lb market lobsters.
What does King Lobster taste like?
The meat is sweet, tender, and slightly briny, with a firm texture that holds up well to steaming, grilling, or broiling. The cold-water origin contributes a cleaner, richer flavor than warm-water lobster.
Is lobster healthy?
Yes. Lobster is high in lean protein, low in fat, and contains important nutrients such as vitamin B12, zinc, and selenium.
Is this product suitable for special events?
Absolutely. Live King Lobsters are ideal for holiday dinners, corporate events, upscale gatherings, and luxury home dining experiences.
