Smoked Tuna Breakfast Recipes: Omelet, Toast and Frittata
Four Smoked Tuna Breakfast Ideas
Use prepared hot-smoked tuna labeled ready to eat for these recipes. Check the smoking method and serving instructions before buying Smoked Yellowfin Tuna; raw ahi steaks are not a substitute for prepared fish in these dishes.
1. Smoked Tuna Omelet
Serves one. Whisk 2 eggs with 2 tablespoons milk. Melt 1 teaspoon butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add the eggs, gently moving the set edges toward the center. Add ¼ cup flaked prepared tuna and ¼ cup shredded cheese. Fold and cook gently until the egg is fully set and the center reaches 160°F, following any stricter fish heating instructions.
2. Smoked Tuna and Cheese Toast
Serves one. Toast 2 slices bread, spread with 1 teaspoon butter and top with ¼ cup prepared tuna and ¼ cup shredded cheddar. Place on a baking sheet in a preheated 375°F oven until the cheese melts, about 5–8 minutes. Follow the fish's heating instructions. Use an oven or suitable toaster oven for topped bread; do not put filled toast in a pop-up toaster.

3. Tuna Avocado Toast
Serves one. Mash half an avocado with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and black pepper. Spread over 2 toasted bread slices and add ¼ cup flaked ready-to-eat tuna. Finish with more lemon to taste. Assemble just before eating; the topping does not need to go back into the toaster.
4. Smoked Tuna Frittata
Serves two. Heat the oven to 375°F. Grease a small ovenproof baking dish with 1 teaspoon butter. Whisk 4 eggs with ¼ cup milk, then fold in ½ cup prepared tuna and ½ cup shredded cheese. Pour into the dish and bake until set, approximately 18–25 minutes depending on depth, checking that the center reaches 165°F. Use temperature rather than a fixed time alone.

Serving and Storage
Keep fish and dairy refrigerated until needed and follow the shortest applicable package storage limit. There is no universal one- or two-week life after opening. Refrigerate prepared food promptly.
Cook eggs until whites and yolks are firm. For sauces served without full cooking, use pasteurized eggs or a commercially prepared sauce and follow its instructions. See FDA egg safety guidance.
People at higher risk of Listeria should avoid refrigerated smoked seafood unless it is cooked in a dish. Cold serving or brief warming does not meet that advice; see FDA Listeria guidance.
