Salmon is a popular fish that can be prepared in many different ways. One of the easiest and most delicious ways to prepare salmon is by making gravlax. Gravlax is a traditional Nordic dish that involves curing salmon in salt, sugar, and herbs. In this post, we will show you how to make Ora King Salmon gravlax at home, using the freshest ingredients and simple techniques.

  • 1 pound of Ora King Salmon fillet, skin on and bones removed
  • 1 cup of kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds
  • 1 bunch of fresh dill
  • 1 lemon, zested

  1. Mix together the salt, sugar, peppercorns, fennel seeds, coriander seeds, and lemon zest in a small bowl.

  2. Place the Ora King Salmon fillet skin-side down on a large sheet of plastic wrap.

  3. Cover the fillet with the salt mixture, making sure it's evenly coated on both sides.

  4. Place the dill sprigs on top of the salt mixture.

  5. Wrap the salmon tightly with the plastic wrap, making sure the salt mixture and dill are completely covering the fish.

  6. Place the wrapped salmon in a shallow dish and weigh it down with a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet or cans of food.

  7. Refrigerate the salmon for 24-48 hours, turning it over every 12 hours.

  8. After 24-48 hours, remove the salmon from the refrigerator and unwrap it.

  9. Use a sharp knife to slice the gravlax thinly on a diagonal angle.

  10. Serve the gravlax on a platter with crackers, sliced cucumbers, and a dollop of crème fraîche.
