Sablefish is a species of fish commonly known in the culinary world as black cod. Black cod sablefish are native to the cold deep waters off of the Pacific Northwest. Known for its rich and buttery taste, Alaskan Sablefish is not a genuine member of the cod family. Sablefish is referred to as black cod because, in the ocean, sablefish closely resemble and are often confused for codfish.
Sablefish black cod is a white fish with a moist texture and buttery taste. Sablefish is high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which helps keep it moist and delicate during the cooking process.
