Halibut Price Guide: Compare Cuts, Pack Sizes & Delivery
Compare the Same Product Format
A whole-fish price and a fillet price describe different amounts of preparation and usable fish. Before deciding which halibut order offers better value, compare the cut, product condition, package weight and delivered total.
Check current prices in the Halibut collection. This guide explains the calculation without promising a lowest-price month or a permanent price.
Calculate the Price per Pound
Product price ÷ listed package weight in pounds = product cost per pound. Use the total package weight, not the weight of one portion. If you want a delivered-cost comparison, include the applicable shipping charge and taxes, and account for discounts shown at checkout.

For example, a hypothetical $200 package containing 5 lb costs $40 per lb before delivery and tax. This is an arithmetic example, not a current offer.
Compare the Listed Formats
- Frozen fillets: compare the 5 lb and 10 lb options separately.
- Fresh fillet portions: six 8 oz portions total 3 lb. Account for the selected seasoning.
- Frozen steaks: compare the specified cut as well as the package weight. The 4 oz oval option is skin-on and bone-in.
- Frozen cheeks: compare their actual listed net weight; do not assume the package matches a fillet order.
- Fresh whole halibut: supplied head-off and gutted, and sometimes cut into large sections for shipping.
Whole-Fish Weight Is Different from Fillet Yield
When you prepare a whole fish, bones, skin and trimming choices affect the amount used for your chosen dish. To compare with prepared fillets, divide the total cost by your actual usable yield. Avoid assuming a universal yield percentage or that a larger fish automatically gives the best value.
Include Delivery and Storage in the Decision
Fresh halibut ships chilled with gel ice via UPS Overnight. Frozen products ship with dry ice, with available services shown at checkout. Compare the final checkout totals for your address.
Collections You May Like
A larger package only suits your plans if you can store and use it. Compare the package saving, if any, with the freezer space and portions you need; a smaller order may fit your household better.
Read Claims Carefully
Do not assume frozen fish is always cheaper, cheeks always cost less than fillets, or a particular month guarantees a bargain. Compare current offers for the same cut and condition. A low headline price can reflect a smaller package or a different format.
For help selecting the format, read the halibut buying guide. For the separate cheek cut, see the halibut cheeks guide.
